There’s been quite a bit of talk online lately about India’s new interpretation (or as they’re calling it, transcreation) of the Spider-Man universe, and for once the response has actually been failry positive. I’m sure it’s out there, but I’ve seen very little of the typical fanboy whining about changes to THEIR beloved characters. In fact, a lot of the changes are pretty cool, sort of along the lines of the Bendisization of the universe in Ultimate Spider-Man but with the addition of cultural significance. However, aside from the one pose of the Spidey in his Indian costume, there’s been a dearth of art from the series. Well, a quick google later and the website for Gotham Comics, the company publishing the series, pops up. Lo and behold, there’s preview art as well! Personally, I’m hoping that part of Marvel’s deal is that they get to repackage and distribute this in the US as well, because it’s looking pretty good. And I’m as big a fan of the Ultimate Spidey book as anyone, but I can’t help but think that the image below is what the covers should be looking like rather than what Marvel’s been shoveling out.
