Movie going ettiquette

After a month long drought of movie going, Jim and I went to see two movies yesterday. We saw Chronicles of Riddick and Dodgeball. Stylistically, I loved Riddick, but for sheer juvenile humor, Dodgeball takes the cake. All in all, it was worth the money paid.
My beef is this. At Dodgeball, some stupid wench was talking on her cell phone, and then gossiping with her friend next to her for at least a good twenty minutes. We finally had to tell her to shut up. Why would you pay good money to go see a movie and not watch it?
Opinions?

First off, welcome back Heidi.
Second, I had a similar issue at Dodgeball the other weekend. Girls next to me were gossiping loudly for a while, with intermittent texting sessions. After I told them I’d appreciate it if they were quieter, I started holding my hand over the texting screen everytime the blue light came on. She was still able to read it, but it must have been bothersome and somewhat disconcerting to have a stranger’s open hand hovering over her lap because she eventually gave up completely.
I blame not only the dumbasses in the theaters, but also the theater employees. I know they’d never catch everyone making a scene, but with the $$$ they charge, I think the theaters could afford to pay someone enough to hover in the back ready to jump on assholes ruining the experience for the rest of the crowd.
