Hey, Kids! A Fetus Interview!

As my fascination with the Hulk fetus continues to grow, I figured I’d email the creator of Fetopia, Rachel, directly to get to the bottom of things. The result for you is a nice, mini-interview with some good news on the horizon for those of you who aren’t necessarily Hulk fans.

4CR – Why fetuses?

Rachel – You know, I’m not really sure. I had to make a Christmas ornament for a ceramics class one year, and the phrase “Fetus Navidad” jumped into my head; I just ran with it. And thus an empire was born.

4CR – Why a Hulk feto?

Rachel – My husband needed cheering up after he saw the movie version last year, and I knew the Hulk feto would do the trick. People saw him wearing it and liked it, and it’s become a staple feto ever since. Originally, the description was “Stan Lee must be spinning in his grave,” a nod to a similar Simpsons quote (like most of my descriptions), but my inbox became so flooded with people informing me that he was still alive, I had to edit it. Damn you, comic book kids!

4CR – Is it selling well? Better or worse than your more traditional feto offerings?

Rachel – Yea, it sells really well, actually. Not as well as Cletus Fetus & Pals, but it’s definitely in the top 5 of all the other fetos, and it’s by far the most requested feto in the “choose your own” packs.

4CR – Will there be more superhero feto offerings? A Spider-Fetus or perhaps a Superfetus?

Rachel – Never underestimate my insanity. I have at least a hundred fetos running around in my head right now, waiting to be made. I’m concentrating more on themes now, including a “Heros and Villains” collection, probably arriving in early November. It will definitely include a Spidey feto, and probably a Batman series (although influenced more by the tv show, since I am a sucker for Julie Newmar.) So keep checking back; if it’s a part of pop culture, chances are I’ll get to it eventually.
