Bendis? Who? What did he write? Can’t find anyone that would match this description on IMDB.com.

Gonna take your question at face value here. Bendis is a comic book writer, not a movie writer. He specializes in crime fiction for the most part, and it looks like he models most of the dialogue between his characters on police interviews.
