BLOODHOUND Cancelled, Comic Readers Prove They Have No Taste

For chrissakes. From Newsarama…
DC Comics has confirmed for Newsarama that Bloodhound by Dan Jolley, Leonard Kirk and Robin Riggs will end with April’s #10.
Bloodhound isn’t wasn’t the greatest book ever released or the best thing on the stands, but it was definitely heads and tails above the majority of titles released today. Admittedly, the Firestorm crossover was fairly crappy, but out of 7 issues, that’s just one, and it wasn’t so bad as to render the series unreadable.
I just read the newest issue last night, #7, and would easily recommend it to anyone reading this right now. It’s part 2 of a 2 part story, but oddly enough in this day and age, it’s totally satisfying as a single issue story. I liked it so much I was prepared to slap together a little review of it today, but it seems that would be somewhat futile at this point. Might as well just accept that if DC publishes a book without capes and boots, nobody’s gonna read it.
Yeah, I’m feeling a little bitter about all of this. Dammit.

You’re right. Nobody read non-cape stuff from DC. Unless it’s a Vertigo book. Or a pull over from Wildstorm. Or Helix.
Man, DC NEVER tries!
(snark it up!)

Bloodhound is about a non-powered guy in the DCU who specializes in taking on met-humans. He’s currently in jail, but ha sbeen out on work-release to the FBI or some government agency. Excellent stuff.

Tae, I never said DC didn’t try, but the readers defineitely don’t. If the book doesn’t have spandex, but is still a part of th DCU, the book will not survive. Even Gotham Central, which is tied tight with the Bat-books, is barely getting by and it’s arguably DC’s best title month in and month out.
