I don’t want people to think I’m being selfish by constantly pushing my ebay auctions down your throats this week. Fact is, I wouldn’t be doing so if I could help it.

Having said that, I want to make certain that you’re all aware of the William Messner-Loebs benefit auctions being run by Steve Lieber. There are some choice pieces of artwork available, and I regret that I’m not in a situation to help out by bidding on a few myself. Mr. Loebs is a fantastic writer and artists, and it’s more than just unfortunate that he’s been forced to live under such terrible circumstances over the last several years. There’s also an online petition somewhere to try to convince one of the big comic book companies to give him some work, and I encourage anyone and everyone to sign it (and send me a link so I can post it as well). It’s, quite frankly, a shame that there’s not been an editor out there that’s given the man a gig already, because he’s demonstrated time and again that he’s got the talent.

It’s sad that a man of Loebs’ talent has to rely on the kindness of strangers like this, but it’s also very heartening to see so many people willing to help.
