Give A Monkey A Computer, Eventually, He’ll Write Cybersex..

Now this – THIS – is fascinating. I know that cos-play is a popular past-time at conventions, be they anime or comic book. I also know that roleplaying is a popular pasttime as well, be it RPGs, live action RPGs, online RPGs, etc. Hell, I even know and understand that people like to create and embody entire personas online, with lives that run separate from their real world existences. On the internet, a 5 foot tall, 4 foot wide guy living in Toledo can be a 6 foot 2 inch tall blond god who resides in the Netherlands and is going to be an alternate on the luge team in the next Olympics. Not that I have any practical experience with this, of course.

However, I was totally unaware that there’s an entire community developing on LiveJournal, the AOL of blogs, where the writers have taken on the personas of various superheroes and interact with each other, always in character, always kind of creepy.

From Sue Storm’s LiveJournal…

A few days ago Reed tormented me by telling me that I had missed out conjugal goodness because I was sniping at Doom over the Internet. Now he’s disappeared into his lab again and, after reading about him practicing his “Little Hand” deal (which I won’t go into because we’re still supposed to be wholesome and all), he has his “DEEP THINKING” sign on the door.

ARGH!

And people wonder why I cast an eye at Namor sometimes. I guess I should just go work out or something…

Again.

That’s…just a little bit messed up, isn’t it? Or am I just missing the appeal, here? Aside from the obvious joy one can garner from reading the posts and clowning the geeks, that is.

More Marvel character LiveJournals to gawk at. Don’t be surprised if you see some crossover action with DC, Image, etc. I already stumbled arcross Death’s LiveJournal. Who knew she was a Bowie fan?
Dr. Doom

You really should leave Sue alone. She’s a wonderful woman and a devoted mother. Also, there are many much more deserving of your…special sort of attention.

I second what the Lady Yvaine said, and also, leave Namor along, lest he throw a boat at you.

Yeah, I don’t think I was really all that mean, to be honest. Poking fun to be sure, but mean? Oh, hell no. There are far nastier things that I could have typed after being semi-skeeved by reading some of the exchanges on LJ (note: “some,” not all or even most), but in the end, y’all aren’t hurting anyone with your weird fantasies and I actually found the Ultron blog to be pretty funny. Sso hey – knock yourselves out!
