I think “Sin City” is the right movie at the right time, man. It’s so nasty and cold and brutal and confrontational and sexy and flies in the face of that goddam conservative mentality that’s taking over everything. It was guiltily exhilerating in a way an American movie hasn’t been in a long, long time, you know? It just reveled in some crazy-ass nihilism: “Everything’s NOT ok, so let’s kill and fuck and destroy and do good.” Or something.
