Seems like every superhero movie is promoted through NASCAR tie-ins one way or another, and Batman Begins is no different. This time, however, they’re naming an entire race after the Dark Knight Detective. Err, car race, not people race.
Following the worldwide open of Warner Bros.’ movie, Batman Begins on June 15, Batman will be found in Michigan for the running of the NASCAR Nextel Cup, which will also be called the Batman Begins 400, marking the first time that a feature film has served as the title sponsor for the NASCAR Nextel Cup. The race will be held at Michigan International Speedway and will be carried live on Fox, June 19. The Batman Begins 400 will feature the Batmobile (the one from the movie) as the pace car. Those attending the race can also take part in the Batman Begins Fan Zone that will be set up at the park. Attractions include the Batmobile, race car driver Mark Martin’s Batman Begins themed car, other cars, merchandise based on the movie and the Batman Begins 400 race, as well as themed activities. As to whether or not any of the stars of the movie will be there, the rumor mill is working its Bat-magic, so who knows.
