I’m really starting to get sick of all the Episode III tie ins that Lucas signed off on. Cingular’s commercial was amusing the first fifty times it aired, but it’s tired by now. The Cheetos promotion is just kind of gross, and tonight I saw Darth Vader try to convince some shlub that he was his cousin just to horn in on a million dollar prize.
That said, this Comp USA promotion is actually kind of cool. What child of the 80s wouldn’t love an honest to god Darth Vader helmet for their mantlepiece? Nobody I want to know, that’s for sure.

I don’t think I’ve seen the Cingular one…have you caught the M&M’s one where Vader chokes out one of the M&M’s? Or, the Diet Pepsi commericial where Yoda uses the Jedi Mind Trick to steal a guys’ lunch and then is foiled when he tries to steal the Diet Pepsi? I’ll admit, they are all sort of cute, but the overwhelming thought I got from all of them – does George Lucas now get paid whenever anything happens on TV or in movies? Wow.
I saw the Diet Pepsi one too, yeah. Last night, Burger King got into the game with Chewie trying to figure out how to use a hair net.
I’ve come to the conclusion that the only reason this one is going to be sso huge is because Chewie’s in it. Without him, there’s no character to root for – Yoda’s annoying, Sam Jackson is destined to die, and Anakin’s too annoying to care about going evil at this point.
