GelflingIn the latest piece of mining the past to make a buck*, it appears that the sequel to “The Dark Crystal” is on schedule again. Henson’s company tried to get production moving back in the 90s but never actually managed to get things off the ground. This time around, it’s more likely, though a director is not yet named and it’s not known if Frank Oz, the original’s director, is at all involved. What is known is that a weekly animated series is also in the works, as well as video games and, one would assume, massive amounts of toys and other collectibles. “The Power of the Dark Crystal” should be creeping out a new generation of kids sometime in mid 2007.

*Please note, I’m all for cashing in on nostalgia to make money. Especially if it means more bizarre and frightening puppet movies.
