Indie label gets “Sweet” for their 80’s CD

I don’t know about you but I dig cover songs. Don’t know why but there’s something about a different band playing another band’s song and tweaking it just a little bit. I felt that way about cover tunes when I heard Travis do “Hit Me Baby One More Time” on a bootleg MP3 all those years ago and when I came across this press release, I get the same feeling. This CD is shaping up to be pretty good. Take a gander below…

MATTHEW SWEET TO COVER AMERICAN GIRL FOR TRIBUTE!
New York - AMERICAN LAUNDROMAT RECORDS (ALR) and FACE DOWN RECORDS (FDR) are proud to announce Indie Pop Superstar – Matthew Sweet will cover Tom Petty’s “American Girl†for their upcoming tribute CD, HIGH SCHOOL REUNION (a tribute to those great 80’s films!). The tribute will also feature John Strohm (Blake Babies, Antenna, Lemonheads), Kristin Hersh (Throwing Muses, 50 Foot Wave), Vic Chesnutt, The Atomic Hep Cats, The Caulfield Sisters, Dipsomaniacs, AM, The Wading Girl, PC Munoz, and many more. Release date is scheduled for October 15, 2005.
