DC and AOL ahve agreed to work together to create mini-series based on something called “Princess Natasha”. Apparently, this is a mega-popular webisode series that’s been available on AOL for the last several years, I’m assuming with a mainly young girl audience. 4 issues sounds just about right to collect in DC’s psuedo-manga format, so I’m sure it’ll be a big moneymaler for the companies, even though it’ll most likely be barely a blip on the direct market’s radar. No word on th creative team as of yet, but I’d expect something to be announced round about CCI.

America Online’s KOL(tm) service for kids has signed a new licensing deal with DC Comics to develop comic books based on its original “Princess Natasha” webisode series, it was announced today during the 2005 International Licensing show. Through this deal, DC Comics, the largest English-language publisher of comics in the world, will publish a four issue mini-series to be released in 2006.

Developed by Animation Collective for the KOL service, the “Princess Natasha” webisode series will also extend to television, books and DVDs/videos through partnerships with Cartoon Network, Little, Brown Books for Young Readers and Anchor Bay Entertainment.
