DC’s favorite group of super heroes will be making a bum rush for the PlayStation 2 and X-Box in late 2006. I’m not sure what it means (if anything) that there are still major games in development for a pair of systems that are upgrading by the beginning of next year, but there you have it. No word yet on whether the characters will be based on those in the comics or the animated series, whether there will be any online play available, or why they chose Zatanna to round out the roster.

BURBANK, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–July 7, 2005–Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has announced the production of the “Justice League of America” videogame, based on the DC Comics super heroes, for the Sony PlayStation(R)2 computer entertainment system and Microsoft Xbox(R) video game system. Set for release in fall 2006, the “Justice League of America” game will be a super hero action role-playing game.

“We are excited to announce a videogame that will bring the legendary super heroes of the ‘Justice League of America’ to the next level for gamers,” said Jason Hall, Senior Vice President of Warner Bros. Gamers will have the power to bring classic super heroes of the “Justice League of America” to life, customize their skills and engage in one-to-two player cooperative combat throughout interactive and destructible environments.
