Apparently Amazon is already reporting orders of 1.4 million copies for “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince”. Meanwhile, Barnes & Noble’s pre-order numbers are coming in around 750,000, though I’m not sure if that’s online orders, brick and mortar or both. No clue as to what Borders’ b&m numbers are like at this point (Amazon manages their online commerce). Still, 2.15 million copies sold before the novel even drops is mighty impressive, no matter how you slice it.
