Positive Mainstream Press For “Heroes Con”

Remember that NYT article about Heroes Con vs Wizard World that ended up being a fluff piece for Wizard? Well, this one got it right.
Atlanta appeared to be a hair away from hosting one of the biggest comic book conventions the Southeast would have ever seen from June 30 to July 2, 2006, at the Cobb Galleria. Wizard World, the latest in a series of national pop-culture festivals held in major U.S. cities, draws tens of thousands of visitors.
There was one catch: The dates clashed with Drum’s show, Heroes Convention, an institution in the South for more than two decades and which lures around 9,000 people.
The match-up of a lone comic store owner vs. a corporate titan looked laughable.
Yet Drum — with a slew of fans, independent and nationally known comic book artists and writers — crushed the competition.
