Invincible #25 is the issue readers have been waiting for. Full of big reveals and extra origin stories on the supporting cast of heroes, this comic is worth the extra price of admission. The last page of the main story alone makes Invincible #25 worth waiting for.

The last couple of issues writer Robert Kirkman has tied up some major storylines, paving the way for this anniversary book. The story set-up here and the follow up on some plot threads served the story well. My only complaint is that there were two incidents in the story that didn’t feel cohesive, so I kept trying to see if there was a page I had missed that was the problem. Otherwise, I was so high off the extras featured here that I was very pleased for the most part.

Kirkman has set the bar high for future issues, especially with the set up on the last page and the origin stories. I am very curious to see where he goes with this, and what part the figure featured on said page will feature. I know one thing- in the future it is Invincible without a net.

Ryan Ottley’s art has grown during his tenure on the book. His use of facial expressions is keen, and the use of multiple panels to show reaction works well for him. I also loved his rendition of Science Dog, and can hardly wait to see him take on said character again. Ottley is a great partner to Kirkman, bringing the necessary punch to his punch lines.

It was also nice to see Cory Walker again; doing the art chores on Immortal and Science Dog back up tales. Todd Nauck also makes an appearance, helming the art chores on a back up tale featuring Monster Girl. I have to give two thumbs up to all the artists involved- they made this issue as great visually as it is verbally.

If despite glowing reviews seen here before, you have somehow managed to bypass Invincible, stop and go pick up the newest issue. Also grab the trade paperbacks. They are affordable, and have enough extras to make it worth the price of admission. Of all the titles Robert Kirkman has brought to Image, this is his crown jewel. Go get a piece before you have missed the boat again. This is good stuff.
