From this morning’s Cynopsis:
ABC’s new fall series Invasion begins with a massive hurricane in Florida. The storm is apparently a diversion to mask the invasion of some sort of alien life. Yesterday it was reported ABC does not plan to edit the show, but late yesterday ABC said for ’sensitivity reasons’ it would pull the promos. And it is also a possibility the show may be delayed beyond its scheduled September 21 premiere date, but for right now, its on schedule.
Probably a wise decision if they do decide to push it back a few weeks or more. I’d already read that the show wasn’t that good in the first place, but quality aside, airing something that would hit this close to home for many Americans who will still be feeling somewhat raw about Katrina would probably not be a smart move.
Show’s supposed to rock. I personally feel totally the opposite — it’s a work of fiction, we should be adult enough to be able to watch it and tell the difference between reality! ;-)
Aren’t there three or four alien invasion shows this season? I’m not sure I need “Surface,” “Invasion,” “Threshold” and whatever the other one is.
Why can’t the networks all copy each other with a lipstick lesbian sitcom or something?
There’s the 3 “invasion” series, and there’s WB’s “Supernatural” which I’ve seen lumped in with them in an article or two. Matter of fact, it may have been “Threshhold” that I heard bad things about – whichever one was originally called “Fathom,” I believe…
Personally, I agree that delaying a show because of the hurricane is a bit stupid. However, I know what busybodies like my mother can get like over stupid things like this, so it’s probably not the worst move they could make. Plus, ABC managed to get some additional press out of the whole thing, which they always like…
I was lucky enough to see a bootleg dvd of Invasion and all I can say is WOW. Yes,the hurricane timing is unfortunate but it’s fantastic,creepy entertainment.
I was riveted. William Fichtner was superb.And Eddie Cibrian and that Hurricane Pilot in the begining scene are living dolls!
I can’t help but to see a reminiscence in this serie from sci-fi movies “The Invation of the Body Snatchers” (1956) and update “Body Snatchers” (1993)
The show DID “ROCK”! It will be a great loss if the show is not brought back this season or if it delayed. It is better than the show Lost. Maybe they should delay that show. The timing of the Hurricane has nothing to do with it. Watch it from the beginning and you will see!
