Rubber Bracelet History

I suppose it’s inevitable that one day, there will be a website or movement based on just about ever piece of pop culture minutia that’s ever existed. This article on the history of rubber bracelets is simply the next step in getting there. While this piece in itself was a bit of a fun trek down memory lane, the site referenced at the end of it is horribly boring. I was expecting some sort of insane chronicling the history of disposable jewelry and was instead greeted by a site that looks like tables of goole ads forced to live together by some evil HTML demon.
1980s — jelly bracelets
( In the early days of MTV, 80s pop stars like Madonna and Cyndi Lauper wore these colorful bracelets. It was a trend to wear not just one but many of them. Their colors were so vivid they were called jelly bracelets and were even sold in bubblegum machines.
1990s — snap bracelets
( Now these bracelets are generally regarded as an urban legend. But in the late 1990s parents were terrorized by news reports that middle school students wore color-coded bracelets to indicate sexual preferences.

Snap bracelets to indicate sexual preferences?! I’ve never heard of that. All I have heard is that jelly bracelets can also be labelled as shag bracelets. For example : The Pink can mean 69. Other then that, I’ll I’ve heard is that the Red Jelly Bracelets; if wore can mean you’re suicidal and that’s from Dr. Phil.
