Damn You, NBC…

I was really thankful that tomorrow night was the premiere of “My Name Is Earl,” not only because I’ve been looking forawrd to seeing this for months now, but also because it meant the end of NBC’s most annoying radio commercials. If you haven’t heard them, the commercials are disguised as a morning zoo type show with the 2 guys and one girl DJs talking about how this movie - no, wait - TV show is supposed to be amazingly funny. On some stations, it’s probably working as borderline-viral marketing since th3e presentation is pretty solid with no music, voice overs or other things we tend to expect from our commercials. But if you listen to, say, Howard Stern in the mornings, it’s pretty obvious from the start that it’s a commercial, and after the 5th or 6th time, you really get sick of it.
So, yeah, I was stoked that tomorrow “Earl” premiers and these commercials would be done with. Then I hear the new one for “Vegas” tonight. My god, is it annoying. Scripted spontaneity about how they didn’t need any more hot chicks on “Vegas,” but thank god someone gave them another anyhow! Painful, painful marketing - damn you NBC, for getting that crap stuck in my head…

God, I hate those commericals. They make me want to tear my hair out after the FIRST time I hear them… not the 5th or 6th. And it looks like they’ll be continuing them past the first episodes of these series.

Is there a way we can get NBC to stop running them? Not like I was planning to watch any of their dumb shows in the first place, but now I really won’t because I don’t want to be lumped in with these dorks that watch the dorky shows on NBC.
