Hey all,
Mainstream buzz has officially started for Nintendo’s upcoming next-gen system, code-named Revolution. TIME magazine has ranked the Rev #2 of “5 New Things That Will Blow Your Mind.” As someone who’s been playing videogames since the Atari 5200, I’ve gotta say that I agree with them. This thing will rock the casbah. Read on here:

The Revolution is going to be crazy. Supposedly you’ll be able to access Nintendo’s entire catalog of games?!? Aaahhh!

Yes, which will be sweet beyond words. You will have to pay to download their games, but unlike Xbox, Nintendo’s internet service will be free (what what!). By far, I’m most excited for the Revolution. The controller, the free internet, the downloadable games, a new Mario…I’ll be there on launch day.

The Revolution is the most exciting thing to happen to video games since the transition from 2d sprites to 3d. I think most people underestimate its potential, just how big it could be. Like many 30-something gamers, I’m totally bored of current games but this looks set to get me fired up again. I’m not big on Nintendo generally, although I have a GBA. I could care less about Mario or their other properties. But I have to respect their innovation and I hope that the Revolution puts them at the top of the pack.
I might get an Xbox 360, I doubt I’ll get a PS3 but I’ll sure as s**t get a Revolution.

I’d have to agree with Rob. I might buy a 360 if I had the extra cash. But with these out of the box innovations, I’m definitely on the hook for a Revolution. Dan, you just proved yet again that not everything out of Yankee-ville is all bad (Andrew was the one that broke that barrier). Steve, good new hire, man.

Yeah I feel the same way — except for the HALO series and the new NHL game, I’m pretty jaded — but I have to admit that I’ve been in Nintendo’s corner for a long time. The Nintendo 64 was probably my favorite console ever. That said, I think the Gamecube was their most problematic system; it was the first Nintendo console to not have a groundbreaking Mario title, or a true groundbreaking title period. It did/does have some wonderful games (Zelda: The Wind Waker, F-Zero GX, Resident Evil 4, Mario Baseball), but overall was underwhelming. You could feel that they were creatively stagnant. I think Revolution will change all that and more. I’ll be getting one at launch. As for the the 360 and PS3, I’m going to wait and see. They’re too expensive right now, and the games just seem like what we have in the current generation, only in high-res.

Thanks, Britt. Yankees fans have feelings too — such as pity for fans of every other team! Zing!
