The recently resurrected Heroic Publishing has just announced that they’re dipping their toes into the electronic distribution pool, starting with their series “Champions”. Available through DriveThruRPG.com, readers can download individual issues or a bundle of six, all in PDF format. Of course, with a price tag of nearly two dollars a pop, I’ll surprised if they set the world on fire. A more realistically priced offering, say 50 cents an issue, would most definitely result in a much higher number of purchases, but then you’re getting hammered by fees. Frankly, if I were them, I’d be selling electronic “TPBs”; bundles of 5-6 issues in one package for something like 4-5 bucks. That just sounds much more reasonable to my inner consumer.
