Fox decides to cancel Arrested Development

In a move that seemed destined to happen since the show began, FOX-TV has finally decided to play Dr. Jack Kevorkian and has pulled the plug on the insanely funny but viewership challenged Arrested Development. This show was an unconventional comedy and a trendsetter considering the TV landscape at the time it premiered. By not using the god-awful laugh track thus allowing the audience to figure out when to laugh, the show paved the way for other shows like My Name is Earl and the American version of The Office to find their own success. The reason for the cancellation was obviously a lack of ratings but the real reason was probably that the show was too smart for its own good. The show will be pulled for the rest of November and is scheduled to return in December to finish out the run. Hopefully, FOX will not totally abandon the show and will release the last season on DVD next year.
