Can anyone out there who was involved in the making of the ‘Mission: Impossible” comics back in the mid 90s either confirm or deny this rumour from the latest issue of Holy Moly? Anyone? Bueller?
When tallness-defying Scientology-zealot Tom Cruise did the first Mission Impossible movie, the emphasis was on ‘cross-media brand maximization’ and various pitches were put out to tender.
Somebody came up with the bright idea of doing some Mission Impossible comics as part of the promo campaign which got the truncated movie rarity sofa-hoppingly excited.
After they were done, they went to print, but Tom insisted on final sign off. He had the entire print run incinerated because in one frame on one page, his character had been drawn with a limp wrist.
