“Fear Agent” #2 Misprinted, Image Offering Free Replacements

See, this is how you handle a misprinting. Image is reprinting and offering free replacements for anyone who bought “Fear Agent” #2 since it was printed on the wrong paper stock and had errors due to this. The best part is that they’ve sent out a press release to try to let everyone know about it so nobody gets shafted. Wonder why Marvel and Bendis didn’t do something similar when they overcharged on the last issue of “Powers” by a dollar.
[As Augie points out below, it was a misprinting on the cover - the retailers were charged the correct price. However, unless you or your retailer happened to be on Bendis’ board prior to buying the book, you were likely charged the full price since nobody seemed to see fit to let anyone know about the error through official channels. Nice, eh?]
Due to a printing error, Image Comics regrets to inform fans & retailers that FEAR AGENT #2 was incorrectly printed on the wrong paper stock, leading to widespread damages.
This issue has been taken up with the printer and they are re-printing FEAR AGENT #2, which will be in-stores on December 14th.
If you have purchased a copy of FEAR AGENT #2, please take it back to your local store and you will be able to exchange it for a new copy of FEAR AGENT #2. The rest of the current print run is being pulped so it does not get sent out accidentally.
Image Comics regrets this error and we apologize for any inconvenience.

They didn’t overcharge. The retailers might have. It was a misprinted cover, and there should have been a press release for it, but the retailers weren’t changed any more for that issue.

I realize the retailers weren’t overcharged, but unless your retailer read Bendis’ board or you did before buying the book, you were more than likely overcharged because nobody issued any sort of official release about the typo. That’s just extremely unprofessional as far as I’m concerned.

I agree — Marvel should have put out a press release.
But, from my reading of Image’s press release on the matter, the only reason FEAR AGENT #2 is getting a free replacement is because it’s not costing them anything for it. The printer is replacing all copies, as it was their fault. Image puts out a big shiny press release, gets good press, and doesn’t spend a dime.
In Marvel’s case, it was their production screw up and they’re cheap. Still should have put out a press releases, though.

Good call on the cost to Image - I’m sure that that definitely affected their decision to promote the exchange so publicly.
Hell, Marvel didn’t even need to do a full press release. Just getting the information directly to the storeowners through Diamond would have been good enough, but they didn’t even bother with that.
