I’m willing to bet that this auction is out of the financial realm of possibility for 99% of KFR readers, but for the remaining 1% who’ve the monetary ability and desire to own some major key comics, your chance is just around the corner. Come mid-January, there’s an auction planned that will offer up copies of Action Comics #1, Detective Comics #27 and Marvel Comics #1 among others. They’re all CGC graded, and are a perfect example of what that company is actually good for, considering the prices these are expected to fetch.
“Leading the list, of course, is the landmark Action Comics #1,” Jaster said, “which featured the origin and first appearance of Superman himself. Without this book, you wouldn’t be reading this today, as this is the single issue that really solidified the concept of comic books as we know them today. The copy we’re offering is CGC-graded Apparent VF- 7.5 Moderate (P) with Off-white to white pages (http://www.heritagecomics.com/common/prlink.php?Sale_No=819&Lot_ID_No=39032&type=prte-pr121305d), and has a pre-auction estimate of $75,000 and up.”
