I’ve never read any “Captain Confederacy” comics, so I don’t know if it truly is racist or if it’s some sort of political commentary/social commentary. I do remember when it was originally published, because I wrote it off as another book with crappy art, and one thing I know for certain is that the title was never meant to be read by kids. That aside, WTF is anyone doing buying a book with this cover and presenting it to their son as a stocking stuffer?
Joey Boswell received three comic books, Hershey’s kisses, candy canes and M&M’s in his stocking on Christmas Day. One of those comics, titled “Captain Confederacy,” is set in a world in which the South won the Civil War and the Confederacy is a world power.
“I saw the first couple pages, and I was mad,” Joey said. “I was wondering, why is (my mom) getting something like this?”
