In a move that’s guaranteed to shake the very foundations of our society, The WB and UPN have announced that they will be combining forces to create one super-network by the fall of 2006. Each company will be an equal partner in this 50/50 deal, with the end result being The CW.

OK, so maybe it won’t be a “super-network,” but Warner Bros. and CBS are certainly hoping that by combining their lineups, they’ll be able to actually matter in the grand scheme of TV things. At the very least, this move may help keep some critically acclaimed yet lower rated shows (I’m looking at you, Veronica Mars) on the air for at least one more season in the hopes that the less-fractured viewing audience will discover them.

One would assume that proven ratings winners such as UPN’s “Everybody Hates Chris” and The WB’s “Smallville” would be at the forefront of the inevitable marketing campaign, but who knows. Still, it would be kind of cool to use the enevitable media attention that this will garner to actually, maybe, have Clark don the tights for next season’s big premiere.
