Netflix Embraces Evils of Capitalism

If I understand the implications of this AP story on Netflix correctly, it looks as if they essentially punish people for being good customers and renting too often. Yeah, that’s nice.
Ed. Note: Abusing my powers here by adding my own Netflix story to the post here, and moving it up to the top of the site.
I was a loyal Netflix customer for about a year, right at the beginning. They lost my account (and good will) when they cut off my queue entirely and then attempted to charge me a replacement fee for a movie that I had never received in the first place. The best part is that they tried to charge me for the missing movie a mere month after they claimed to have shipped it to me in the first place. When I hear their commercials touting that you can keep a DVD out for 8 days or 8 years, it still gets me a bit worked up. Here’s hoping they end up catching it in the neck on this one, just a little bit.

I was a Netflix subscriber paying $15/mo for 2 at a time movies, which initially usually netted me 2 movies a week. Now for $25 I get 2 at a time from Blockbuster (in store) and I can be watching a new movie within 30 minutes of finishing my last one. A much better deal in my opinion.

So Blockbuster has a monthly subscriber fee now? Interesting. I’m not a big fan of theirs to say the least, but obviously Netflix shouldn’t be free from scrutiny, either.

This just in: Netflix will be moving this post to the bottom of the queue.

We don’t watch too many Netflix movies, but all I know is the wait for movies has increased remarkably over the past couple months. And not having to wait too long for a movie was one of the attractions of using Netflix.
Maybe this is the result of more people using the service — but then again, looking at this article, maybe not. It’s such a good idea…hope they aren’t screwing it up.
