Well, this is too bad. The only skateboarding company owned, run by and created for girls,Cherry Skateboards, has announced that they’re closing down operations as of April 1 with the site transforming into a girl-oriented skate zine. I’m assuming that this isn’t an early April Fool’s Day joke, since I can’t see how a faked announcement like this could help a company financially. It’s too bad that the support wasn’t there for Cherry - skateboarding is a sport just as condusive to girls as boys, and it’s a shame that it’s been traditionally a boys-only club for the most part.
