EA Going All Crazy Eddie With “Godfather”

Good news for us still using almost-passe video game consoles, Electronic Arts is slashing the price on their highly anticipated Godfather game. Yep, THAT Godfather. Wow, guess I should’ve made a stupid-ass “offer us nerds can’t refuse” joke for the headline or something…
Anyway, “The Godfather” is due in stores 3/21. Hope this thing is good!:
SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 21 â€â€? In a sign of the video game industry’s continuing struggles, Electronic Arts said on Tuesday that it planned to sell its much-awaited Godfather video game next month for $39.95, which is 20 percent less than it typically prices new games.
The discount strategy is the latest disappointment for Electronic Arts surrounding the game, which is based on the Godfather movie and book, and which the company spent $10 million to $20 million to develop in hopes of creating a blockbuster.
Haven’t these people learned yet that a kind of consumer fatigue/wait-and-see approach happens almost every time a new generation of consoles rolls around? Well, check out the rest of the article here.

I’ll definitely buy the game, but:
1. EA’s non-sports games are, for the most part, shitty
2. There’s no Al Pacino! Granted, he’s not half the actor he was when he played Michael Corleone in Godfather 1 & 2, but still…

These are both painful truths. Although they did get Brando!
The other thing is nobody’s ever been able to do a GTA-esque game (I’m guessing that’s what this is gonna be like) except for Rockstar. We shall see…
