Eric Powell Goes To Cimmeria

I’ve been unfortunately out of the loop when it comes to the current Conan comic phenomenon, having skipped the intial issues and never catching up through any of the collections. However, there’s an upcoming one-shot with Eric Powell’s name plastered all over it, making it a must buy. OK, so some dude named Busiek is writing it, and Tony Harris managed to finagle the cover art assignment, but I’m still intrigued as hell to see what Powell does with a non-horror/humor themed story.
Full press release and complete cover art available after the jump.
A special one-shot story in honor of Conan creator Robert E. Howard’s centennial will feature art by the lovely and talented Eric Powell, creator of The Goon. This issue tells the story of one wild and fateful night in the life of a young storyteller in an Aquilonian farming community—the night Conan, Janissa the Widowmaker, and Kalanthes, priest of Ibis, came to town, pursued by all the demons of hell. Always a dreamer, telling tales of great deeds in faraway lands, the storyteller gets a look at all-out action, heroism, and sacrifice on the dusty streets of his home town, and is forever changed by the experience.
Conan #28 features story by Kurt Busiek, art by Eric Powell, colors by Dave Stewart, and cover by Tony Harris. Issue #28 arrives May 17with a retail price of $2.99.
