Blogs VS Marvel/DC Hitting Mainstream Press

CBS News is reporting on the whole storm that’s erupted on blogs all over about Marvel and DC’s co-copyright of the word “super-hero.” In a typical display of reporting ineptness, the blogs that are cited in the article have one thing in common - not one of them seems to ba an actual comic book themed blog. It’s not like there’s a shortage of us out there, either, nor is the topic limited solely to blogs. CBR has an article up right now that offers the best analysis of the situation that I’ve seen anywhere on the subject, and I’m already tired of seeing Cory Doctorow substitute in Warren Ellis’ “pervert suits” for the term “superhero” whenever I visit boingboing.

The more interesting debate is Joe Q’s ban on characters smoking in Marvel Comics. I have no problem with the ban, myself.

I vote for “Superb Heroes”; It’s time to class it up a bit, don’t you think?
