Stone Cold Steve Austin: Condemned

In addition to comics, toys and TV shows, I’m a wrestling geek as well. I admit it! My love for the stuff waxes and wanes, but I always end up back on board the wrestling train eventually. So it’s no surprise that I’ve been watching the WWE’s movie business with more than a little interest. With “See No Evil” due out shortly, and the Rock’s movie career well under way, I’m already looking forward to Stone Cold Steve Austin’s first flick, “The Condemned.” The plot’s your basic retelling of “The Greatest Game,” which should play to Austin’s abilities perfectly. Just look at the description and tell me this doesn’t sound like 1970’s movie gold!
The story revolves around a cop on death-row who is given a second chance when chosen to compete on a deadly reality show. Pursued by ruthless killers, his survival and the key to his freedom depend on him surviving long enough to take down the one person responsible for putting him behind bars.
What’s really got me excited, however, is the presence of Louis “El Cid” Guizman himself on the cast! A legitimate Hollywood name involved in a WWE produced film? Awesome!
Slightly less of a sure thing - HHH’s leading man debut in “Jornada del Muerte.” The description also conjures up images of old-school 70s flicks, but I’m not sure the world wants to see HHH as anything but a Conan-esque character.
A modern-day Western where gangs, drug trafficking and broken codes of honor rule.
