IMAX Powerful Enough To Constrain Superman?

I have to admit, I’m hearing more and more good things about the film, so despite my personal reservations, Superman Returns may actually be worthwhile viewing. However, there’s a new rumor going around that may have those who see the Man of Steel on IMAX screens a bit disappointed. A photo recently surfaced that may or may not be a hoax, but it shows the flick on screen in what appears to be pan and scan format. I already have a bit of a hate-on for IMAX theaters, having nearly snapped my neck trying to follow the action in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, but I kind of doubt that they’d be stupid enough to chop the sides off of Superman Returns. Still, it’s something you may want to look into before dropping the extra cash to see Krypton explode in 3-D.

To be fair you saw Crouching Tiger at one of the WORST Imax theaters in LA.

It’s not in pan and scan. That’s just a promotional image sent out by the PR company. I saw a presentation of select shots from “Superman Returns” in 3D last week and it’s definitely in widescreen format. Nothing to be concerned about.
