I guess Art Asylum’s thinking on how to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Speed Racer is to release cartoons that look even crappier than the originals. Seriously, the trailer they have online right now looks more like those e-auto insurance ads than a legit piece of animation. The character designs on the actual website (complete with annoying background music), look pretty decent, however, with Racer X looking especially badass. Not too sure what the benefit is to making Chim Chim a full-on gorilla, though, or aging Spridle from a little brother to an overweight middle aged mechanic for that matter. Supposedly the website has games, more trailers and other goodies, but I’ll be damned if I could find anything beyond the circling character wheel.
