Generally speaking, I enjoy the M. Knight Shyamalan flicks. Even thought they tend to fall apart in the end and get caught up in their own cleverness, I usually end up enjoying myself watching them the first time through, though they do have a tendency not to hold up to a second or third viewing. For some reason, I’m finding myself especially interested in his new movie, possibly due to the fact that Paul Giamatti just plain kicks ass. A KFR reader was at a preview screening of M. Night’s “Lady In The Water” last night, and has this to say:

My man and I got to preview Lady In the Water last night thanks to a friend of mine. Much to our surprise, we really enjoyed it! Lady In the Water is M Night’s gentle poke at the critics who insisted he was a one trick pony. There are no aliens, no dead people and no private little fortress where frightened people hide from the modern world. There is however, a Lady in the Water! (gasp!) as well as many other colorful characters. The story is a darkly whimsical, contemporary spin of an obscure fairytale and M Night made it work. I recommend it; it’s a nice change of pace from the onslaught of bigger than life, in your face summer blockbusters and sappy chick flicks!
