I’m not sure what the thinking was behind meaning-up some of Disney’s more lovable dragons and including them in a set with Malificant, but I have to admit that Pete’s Dragon and Mushu do look badass. They’re pretty big, too, standing as much as 10 inches tall. Check the other two pics after the jump.

I made a statue of Ronald from Dalicia’s Dragon
Found your page through an image search for pics of Pete’s Dragon… I’m wondering not so much why someone would lump them all together, as why on Earth the creator would alter Elliott’s appearance and proportions so drastically. What a shame — the statue looked really cool from the thumbnail, but the distorted squinty-eyed face is seriously ugly. Besides, it seems to totally ignore the idea that he’s the embodiment of what a scared little kid long ago would dream up for a sense of protection/safety…
If the person wanted a collection of ‘realistic’ dragons, it’d make a lot more sense to use the ones that have that look in other movies or books. Oh well, they probably make sculptures where Goofy looks like a ‘real’ dog too…bah. I’m cool with keeping childhood stuff around after growing up, but it deserves to be recognized as the great kid’s stuff that it is, not altered because we grew up.
Ok, this is like, too weird. I googled “Disney Dragons” because I have these 4 little McDonalds (?) Toy dragons, the three pictured above (although Pete’s dragon is the original cuddly one) and one that I cannot remember the movie of. (Sic)
Anyway, somebody tell how many Disney dragons *are* there, anyway? BTW, the other dragon I have is chunkier than the Sleeping Beauty dragon, but also purple.
Okay, on first look I didn’t like the Pete’s Dragon statue either. But actually – I’ve thought for a while that Elliott in the film might not be an adult dragon. He looks and acts so puppyish, almost younger than Pete. Perhaps this is Elliott when he grew up – still protecting another kid in trouble, you’ll notice. :)
