Happy Birthday, MTV

It was twenty five years ago today that MTV launched with “Video Killed The Radio Star,” and about 15 years since MTV last mattered. OK, so that’s a little harsh, and I do admit to having enjoyed quite a bit of their non-video programming over the years, but I do miss the days when people watched the channel for the music and not so much to see 16 year old debutantes act like complete whores. MTV themselves don’t seem to care much, though - there’s not even a mention of the channel hitting the quarter century mark on their website as far as I can see.

One of the offspring channels is running the first day of programming all day.

Yeah, VH1 Classic seems to be picking up and running with the nostalgia ball on this one.
