Dan’s Take: Good, mindless fun, with or without the hype, and I did jump in my seat a couple of times. I don’t think I’ll ever watch it again — seeing it in my living room will never compare to a packed Staten Island theater filled with 15 year olds.

Andrew’s Take: Thankfully, SOAP has much more in common with Roger Corman’s 70s output and those William Castle movies from the 50s than the usual B-movie mediocrities Hollywood either takes too seriously and overstylizes, or even stranger, dresses up for Oscar potential (I’m looking at you King Kong!). And as such, it’s actually a pretty good time. This is not a dull film by any means, and it gets extra style points for the gratuitous sex and violence. But I could’ve done without the “OMG We’re So Ironic!” video over the closing credits.
