I specifically remember scoffing at the idea of a cable network devoted solely to food when I first heard about it over a decade ago, and now I’m pretty much addicted to several shows on the Food Network. Shows what I knew! At any rate, one of the shows that’s become pretty much required viewing in my household is the Food Network Challnge series. Always entertaining, even when the theme is something I couldn’t care less about. Last night’s show was extra cool, though, because the theme was famous cartoon characters.

Four different world class cake creators were competing, and while 3 of the resulting cakes were decent enough (Curious George, Popeye and Betty Boop), the Scooby Doo cake was freaking amazing. Created in just 7 hours (baking was taken care of ahead of time), I swear to god, I’ve never seen a cake as insane as this.

Here’s hoping someone at Food Network pitches a superhero themed- challenge for a future show.
