Marvel Superheroes Invade WWE.com

At this point, we’re all used to seeing sponsors take over all the ads on websites for various campaigns. Normally a movie or video game will buy up most or all of a site’s ads for a few weeks or so in order to promote their product, and maybe directly sponsor an article or two. Well, Activision’s taken it to the next level in their promotion of the Marvel: Ultmate Alliance game. They’ve not only bought the ad impressions out on WWE.com, but they’ve actually taken over the entire background of the site. Click the image below for a larger view, if you like.
I can totally understand doing this to stand out in a market where consumers are becoming harder and harder to advertise to. I do wonder, however, why the big comic book sites weren’t hit up with a similar offer.
Oh yeah - that’s K-Fed slapping John Cena across the face. Seems someone discovered there’s money to be made by having overgrown wrestlers kick the crap out of Mr. Spears on a semi-regular basis.

Well it occurs to me that anyone going to a comic site would already know or really really want the game.

This is just the type of advertising that the WWE doesn’t need.
