Carrying on with the KFR Holiday Gift Guide, this installment focuses on that crazy medium we love to love and complain about: Comics! Want to give a non-comics reader a gift that you think they’ll enjoy but will probably result in a blank stare? You’ve come to the right place!

For the Grand Theft Auto, Pulp Fiction, Scarface, etc. fan:
100 Bullets
A sensational crime saga, full of twists and turns that never disappoint. Be sure to start someone off with the Vol. 1 trade, but don’t leave out book 3, featuring the incredible “Hang Up on the Hang Low” story.

For the Lord of the Rings, Disney fan, and pretty much everybody:
Bone: One Volume Edition
Sure, Scholastic has started releasing this in color installments, but why not own the entire epic in one tidy collection? Beautiful art, intriguing characters, and a compelling story.

For someone who actually liked X-Men: The Last Stand but doesn’t read comics:
X-Men: The Dark Phoenix Saga
This was comics’ first, and perhaps most resonant, epic tragedy. The last X-Men flick was like a Dark Phoenix-lite, but this classic shows how it should’ve been done. Its place in comics history is well-deserved.

For someone you want to argue politics with:
Palestine
A true eye-opener, this is a non-fiction account of journalist Joe Sacco’s time spent in the Gaza Strip in 1991. Amazing work.
