Wow - ever since Byrne’s little Steve Irwin incident, there’s been a steady undercurrent of resentment building on his message boards. Apparently, this spills over to another board heavily populated by Byrne posters and ex-posters, with a super-secret thread that’s dedicated to talking smack about the one-time comic book great. The other day, someone actualy had the temerity to post a chat transcript from Byrne’s chatroom, leading Byrne to give the room the axe. Of course, this lead to yet another thread on the boards with people asking him to reconsider, others fully supporting the decision, and oddly enough, people directly giving Byrne crap. Not newly registered users, either - some of the one-time Byrnebots are breaking rank and file with their leader.

Most of it is petty bickering without much in the way of driveby appeal, but this post was too good to ignore, hitting all the high points. I love that he calls Byrne out for his ridiculously high priced commission pieces, but I’d love for someone to ask Byrne why he feels it appropriate to re-imagine other peoples covers rather than simply sticking to his own work.

Seeing as how you’re in a positive action-taking mood at the moment JB I feel it behoves me to bring it to your attention that you’re alienating many more fans than you’re making through your petty, hypocritical, arrogant and rude online persona.

Dozens if not hundreds of longtime and devoted fans of yours have been driven away by your actions and posts in the recent past.

Most of the familiar names from the old Byrne Ward and Network 54 who’ve supported you through thick and thin have dissappeared because of you alone JB; not trolls, not mean old LCS keepers, not rumour mongers etc. etc.

Soon I fear there’ll just be you and less than a dozen or so Yes Men posting here about how the majority of fans you’ve driven away and the rest of comics fandom are in the wrong.

Likewise it should be brought to your attention that fans of your comics work have dissappeared in their tens of thousands and those of us who are still fans have seen you take a leave of absence without any indication of when your talent will return to our monthly pull list,
while you focus on a few private commissions for thousands of dollars for the monied few.

Whose more imporant JB? The thousands upon thousands who plonk down a few bucks every month for your latest work or the few dozen who can afford the thousands for a
private comission revisiting past glories?

In regards to the action you should take given the positive mood you’re in, can I suggest that you visit a therapist to enquire as to how you can allways be right
and others wrong even when the facts don’t support you.

Also seek professional expertise as to why you have such a pathalogical desire to piss off and insult genuine supporters of yours.

Enquire why is it, given how great you think you are and the 12 Yes Men are allways telling you, that you can’t get work at the biggest 2 comics companies, you have
pissed off many who work there and your recent works bled sales.

You might also enquire as to why you consistently bitch about the state of modern comics, their lack of professionalism, their content and everything they are
doing wrong but even though you are in a position to do something about it you do sweet FA.

Action to stop your thousands upon thousands of comics fans who’ve supported your work (and who do not visit this forum luckily enough seeing the effect you have on
the majority of those fans) from leaving comics, or putting their hard earned bucks into comics you despise, in your absence would be to devote some of the time when
you’re not producing private recreations for your richest fans into writing, pencilling and inking your own creations and getting a JB monthly back onto the shelves as quickly as possible. There’s no shortage of publishers out there to facilitate that within the next few months.

I hope you’ll take appropriate action now that I’ve brought these more important matters to your attention than some rumoured non existant cross posting (heaven for bid the pics you post in the boobs thread have any copyright involved in your posting them here for all to see!).
