“The Boys” Heads To Dynamite, Maintains Cover Price

While it’s no surprise that Ennis and Robertson’s creator owned Wildstorm series “The Boys” is moving over to Dynamite after DC unceremoniously cancelled it, Newsarama is reporting that they’re actually going to maintain the same cover price. Now, $2.99 a pop isn’t cheap, but it’s probably the smartest move Dynamite could have made after obtaining the title in the first place. Too often books that m ove from one publisher to a smaller one end up seeing massive price increases that scare away existing fans of the series (see: “Fallen Angel”). Considering “The Boys” was Wildstorm’s best selling series by a significant margin, Dynamite’s move is a particularly canny one and I hope it pays off for everyone involved.
Me, I’m still waiting for the first collection to be resolicited, hopefully for the same price.
