DC’s Revitalized “Superman” Books Offer Something for Everyone
Author: Daniel Brooks March 7th, 2007
Going seemingly unnoticed amidst the hype of Civil War, 52, and whatever else is the hot-button issue of the moment, is the fact that DC’s Superman line is the best it’s been in years.
Whether intentional or not, each Superman book is targeting a specific market: All-Star Superman is offering classic, wholesome superhero action; Superman features a modern take on Supes; Action Comics, courtesy Geoff Johns and Richard Donner, expertly captures the feel and tone of the movies.
Right now, any of these books are worth picking up; though, smartly, DC seems to have realized that there are different “versions” of Superman out there, and now we can pick which one we want to read about.

Well the schedule’s been so erratic, you might be waiting a long time for that trade. Not to be too spoiler-ific, but to possibly whet your appetite, I’ll just say that Johns and Donner have combined plot points and characters from Superman II and Superman Returns to make for a Superman comic where new things are actually happening and having consequences.
