Silver Surfer Billboards Invade Los Angeles

The Silver Surfer has always amazed me. For a character that never seems to be able to really sustain his own series for an extended amount of time, save for the one decent run in the late 80s, Norrin Radd has an amazing amount of fans. Not only that, but a lot of the fanbase seems to consist of people who don’t really read comics regularly but remember the character fondly from a cartoon appearance during their childhood, a random comic they read “at a friend’s house” or even the Satriani album “Surfing With The Alien.” Whatever the case, I’m halfway convinced that the entire reason FF2 was greenlit was so the producers could sneak a Silver Surfer movie on the public without the studios actually noticing. The new billboards popping up all over Los Angeles certainly seem to support my completely unfounded theory, since not a one has anything but the Surfer bursting onto the scene with the short blurb “RISE.”

More, bigger, better images after the jump.

I completely subscribe to your theory, and that’s the same in France. Everybody knows the Silver Surfer, because of his incredible look. My friends who have seen the FF2 trailer are very excited. We don’t see Silver Surfer billboards at Paris for the moment, but I’m sure the movie will have a great success. In Europe, Silver Surfer is one of the most popular Marvel heroes, because of his Christ like personality. I was happy when I knew that he will appear on the screen. Best regards from Paris.

because the silver surfer is my absolute favorite marvel icons, I am greatly looking forward to this movie. The first movie was good but the sequel is going to take the cake. Not only will surfer be in it, but so will NOVA… the more recent herald of galactus. I love the fantastic 4 but i cant wait till JUNE 15 for surfer to kick their butts.

Everytime I see this poster out of the corner of my eye, I think it’s for Pitch Black.
