Greatest Album Of All Time To Be Performed Live At Various Venues

Something fun to do this summer: kick back on the grass and relax to some urgent, squealing feedback and poetic yelping about the uneasy state of American society, the anxiety inherent in everyday life, and decay. Here’s some info from SonicYouth.com on the band’s Daydream Nation live dates:
SONIC YOUTH TO PERFORM DAYDREAM NATION LIVE IN LONDON (THIRD SHOW ADDED), BARCELONA, GERMANY, AND THE USA
Sonic Youth will perform ‘Daydream Nation’ live on August 30 and 31 and September 1 at the Roundhouse in London as Part of the Don’t Look Back series of concerts. SY have now also been confirmed to perform Daydream Nation at the Primavera Festival in Barcelona on June 2, at the Tollwood Festival in Munich June 21, and at Columbia Halle in Berlin June 27. The first US Daydream date is at the Pitchfork Music Festival on July 13, with shows on July 19 at the Berkeley Community Theater in Berkeley, CA and July 20 at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles to follow. Also keep an eye out for the ‘Daydream Nation’ Deluxe Edition 2xCD/4xLP in 2007.
Although it’s not clear why all this is happening exactly (the 20th anniversary of the album would be next year, so, a celebration of the Deluxe Edition maybe…?) it’s rad beyond belief. Daydream Nation is my personal favorite record of all time, easily one of best albums of the 80s, and (depending on which music nerd you talk to…) probably the best underground rock record ever. I still remember when and how I heard it the first time almost 20 years ago, so you know it was/is a true mindblower.

Man, yeah, in all honesty, I actually can\’t believe how well Paul\’s Boutique has aged. The Onion had a nice writeup on it recently: http://www.avclub.com/content/feature/

I was listening to it in the car this morning, and I was thinking the same thing. I remember having only lukewarm reception to it when it was released. It was a few years ahead of it’s time. God bless the Dust Bros.

Great album, but their former touring partners Swans had already set the bar in 1987 with Children of God.
Interesting, the many paths former No Wavers take…
