Abandoned Transformers Cartoon Designs Inspiration for Michael Bay’s ‘Bots?

Are the robot designs in Michael Bay’s Transformers blasphemous and completely un-Transformers, as some argue? Maybe not.
After (the last good) Transformers cartoon, Beast Machines, Hasbro had started preliminary work on a sequel, TransTech, that would (awesomely) be an in-continuity G1/Beast-era crossover. The idea was cancelled, but certain character designs that have surfaced bare a striking resemblance to the robots in the upcoming flick.
Click on the link below to see a couple of comparisons of these “lost” Transformers designs and their movie counterparts.

What do you think?

I’m coming around on them, myself…Optimus looks pretty awesome. Starscream still looks horrible.

I just saw this movie and being a huge fan as a kid, I must say, I loved it…a great adaptation as far as the storyline, with the exception of a few new characters (and obvioulsy the scorpion didn’t come around until the BW era)I thought they held pretty true…my biggest complaint is that Megatron does not fly or transform into a jet…Starscream got him around…but other than that…awesome…even Witwicky stayed the same!
