This past weekend, the internet was all abuzz over this photo of Heath Ledger as the Joker. My first reaction is that it looks like crap on a stick, but that may very well just be me. Cue Monday morning, however, and Comics2Film posts a little bit of interesting news.

…a quick whois check reveals that the new website is not registered directly to Warner Bros. as the previous sites were. Is this just a case clever studio publicity folks wiping their fingerprints off of the latest viral campaign? Or is it another hoax on unwary surfers who were whipped into a furor last month over an image that proved to be a fan photoshop job?

Combine that with CBR’s Monday morning report that people were reported doing the following in Los Angeles over the weekend, and it does indeed look as though this is the second false Joker sighting in the last month.

One practical joke that got people’s attention was from a fan report at Superhero Hype that talked about Joker playing cards left around a Los Angeles area comic book store that had “I Believe In Harvey Dent Too!” stamped on them.
